Problem Note 20304: SAS® BI Dashboard might cause the application server to run out of memory

When creating a SAS BI Dashboard in the SAS Information Delivery Portal, every viewed dashboard portlet leaves a temporary file in the folder defined by the java.io.tmpdir environment variable. These files accumulate and can become a performance problem. Eventually this can cause your application server to fail if disk space is exceeded.
The symptoms include the following:
- physically running out of disk space
- logically exceeding the number of files allowed in a given folder
- logically exceeding the number of files allowed to be open under Web Application Server
The possible circumventions include the following:
- having plenty of disk space
- increasing your files and folder limits
- periodically deleting the excess files
- restarting your Web Application Server
