DetailsAboutRate It

The following instructions enable you to uninstall SAS 9.1.3 from your machine. Use these instructions if SAS 9.1.3 is the ONLY release of SAS on your machine.

WARNING: DO NOT uninstall the SAS Private JRE before you uninstall all of your SAS components. The SAS Private JRE is THE component that the install/uninstall wizards use. If this component is uninstalled prior to the other SAS components, you WILL have problems uninstalling or you WILL NOT be able to uninstall at all.

  1. Select Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and stop any SAS Services that might be running. For example, where BIArchitec stands for the project name:

SAS Lev1 CS - BIArchitec     (Connect Server)
SAS Lev1 MS - BIArchitec     (Metadata Server)
SAS Lev1 OB - BIArchitec     (Object Spawner)

check the Task Manager, and stop any SAS processes that might be running (highlight sas.exe and click the End Process button).

  2. Select Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the SAS Configuration Wizard.
  3. Uninstall any other SAS Programs.
  4. Remove the SAS Private JRE (SAS Private JRE (J2SE) Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2_09).
  5. Again, if SAS 9.1.3 is the only release of SAS on the machine, remove the SAS folder where the sas.exe file and the Shared Files folder reside. By default, the folder is located in C:\Program Files\SAS.
  6. Delete the Temporary folder, by typing the following:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\ {68624FB8-2512-46B5-9664-64366DCCB3EB}"

  7. Delete these files:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\ssnprefs.xml
    C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\SSN.log
    C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\SSN.log.lck
    C:\WinNT\vpd.properties

  8. Please note, it might also be necessary to remove the 3rd party software (for example: Apache, Xythos).

  9. Reboot your PC, log in as the Administrator of the machine, and close all applications, including anti-virus, -spyware, and -adware programs.

Once you preform the steps above you can safely re-install SAS 9.1.3. To re-install SAS 9.1.3, insert the SAS Software Navigator CD or click setup.exe in the SAS Software Depot that you created.

If you are just installing SAS® Foundation 9.1.3 (for example: Base SAS, SAS/STAT®) start with the SAS Setup CD or click setup.exe from the disk1 directory from the SAS Software Depot.
