In SAS 9, the default SAS DBCS session locale is set to Japanese and the default SAS session encoding is shift-jis.

SAS® 9.4

On Windows, SAS DBCS is called SAS 9.4 (English with DBCS). To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the configuration file in this directory if you install the SAS default location:

C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\nls\1d

On UNIX, SAS DBCS is installed by default. The invocation script name is sas_dbcs under !SASROOT/bin. To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the sasv9.cfg file in this directory:

!SASROOT/nls/dbcs

SAS® 9.3

On Windows, SAS DBCS is called SAS 9.3 (English with DBCS). To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the configuration file in this directory if you install the SAS default location:

C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.3\nls\1d

On UNIX, SAS DBCS is installed by default. The invocation script name is sas_dbcs under !SASROOT/bin. To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the sasv9.cfg file in this directory:

!SASROOT/nls/dbcs

SAS® 9.2

On Windows, SAS DBCS is called SAS 9.2 (English [DBCS]). To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the configuration file in this directory if you install the SAS default location:

C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\nls\1d

On UNIX, SAS DBCS is installed by default. The invocation script name is sas_dbcs under !SASROOT/bin. To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the sasv9.cfg file in this directory:

!SASROOT/dbcs

SAS® 9.1

On Windows, SAS DBCS is called SAS 9.1 (English with DBCS and Unicode support). To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the configuration file in this directory if you install the SAS default location:

C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\nls\1d

On UNIX, SAS DBCS is called DBCS Asian Language Support. The invocation script name is sas_dbcs under !SASROOT/bin. To change the SAS session locale or encoding values, edit the sasv9.cfg file in this directory:
