Usage Note 14856: How to apply a setinit to multiple installations of SAS at one time
You can apply a setinit to multiple installations of SAS by completing
this series of post-installation steps. For this configuration to work,
all machines must be of the same operating system class, and must have
identical installations and configurations of SAS. Local and mapped
network drives must also be identical.
1. Open c:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\nls\en\sasv9.cfg in Notepad.
2. Scroll to the portion of the config file that begins with
-SASHELP. The entry appears similar to the following:
-SASHELP (
"!SASCFG\SASCFG"
"!sasroot\core\sashelp"
"!sasext0\dmine\sashelp"
"!sasext0\inttech\sashelp"
)
3. Change "!sasroot\core\sashelp" to the following and select File>
Save to save the changes:
"<networkdrive>:\<YourPath>\sashelp".
Note: Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths can also be used.
4. Locate the sashelp directory that is in your SAS program folder
and copy it to "<network drive>:\<YourPath>\". In SAS 9.1, the
sashelp directory is typically located in c:\Program Files\SAS\
SAS 9.1\core\sashelp.
NOTE: To update the setinit information on machines that have had steps
1-3 performed, go to one of the machines and select Start>Programs>SAS>
SAS 9.1 Utilities>Renew SAS Software. All machines on which you have
completed steps 1-3 will have their setinit information updated on
completion of the renewal process.
