Many processor vendors (ie. AMD, Intel) are introducing a feature referred to as NX (no-execute) that prevents data memory areas from executing code. With the installation of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enables the NX feature. With this NX feature enabled, certain client applications could crash or fail to execute. The following message may be displayed when executing the client (in this example, the client is the Integration Technologies Configuration Utility - ITCONFIG) : Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: itconfig Module Publisher: SAS Institute Inc. Pressing "Continue" generates: itconfig Module has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. In the Data Execution Prevention Window that is automatically displayed when the NX feature is enabled, the "Change Settings" button allows you to bypass the DEP option for all programs and services except for the applications that are selected. By checking the client application, and selecting "OK", the first time that the application is executed the above error will be displayed but the application will work each time there after. To correct the problem and allow the client application to work with the DEP option, download and install the Integration Technologies Client for Windows (Release 9.1) INTTECH.EXE module, found at the following location: http://support.sas.com/ Then Select ==> Software Downloads ==> Product & Solution Updates ==> SAS Integration Technologies ==> SAS Integration Technologies Client for Windows(Release 9.1) ==> Login and request the download for the INTTECH.EXE module.
