Usage Note 12686: "Error: An installation support file _IsRes.dll could not be removed. Catastrophic failure" error message appears when installing sas 9.1 without rebooting

When you install SAS 9.1 over your current release of 9.1 without
rebooting your system, the following error message might appear during
the installation or when starting SAS:

   SAS 9.1
   An installation support file 'C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\
   Local Settings\Temp\{68624FB8-2512-4685-9664-64366DCCB3EB}\
   _IsRes.dll' could not be removed.
   Catastrophic failure

If SAS does not start, try the following:

   1. Reboot your PC.

   2. Start SAS.

If SAS still doesn't start, take the following steps:

   1. Remove or rename the installshield directory from:

      C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine

   2. Delete the directories under

      C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information

   3. Reboot your PC.

   4. Reinstall SAS.
