This document has been updated to reflect the requirements to deploy this SAS software along with SAS 9.4M9 (TS1M9), which was generally available in 2025.
SAS Credit Scoring combines risk data management, data mining, and reporting capabilities in an integrated solution for developing, validating, and monitoring credit scorecards in-house.
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at SAS Third-Party Software Requirements - Baseline and Later Support.
Third-party anti-virus, anti-spyware, endpoint-protection, and system-monitoring software can interfere with SAS applications and can block files. For more information about the official guidance from SAS Technical Support, see the Anti-Virus section of the SAS Foundation System Requirements document that corresponds to the operating system where you are deploying SAS.
SAS Enterprise Miner must be installed on the same machine as SAS Credit Scoring Server.
SAS Metadata Server, SAS Data Integration Server, SAS Enterprise BI Server, and SAS OLAP Server can be installed on the same machine as the SAS Credit Scoring server, or on separate machines.
Your license entitles you to download SAS Credit Scoring Content, which is optional. You can find the package on the SAS Support website: https://support.sas.com/downloads/index.htm.
SAS Credit Scoring Server includes a SAS OLAP Server subcomponent, which is also available in other offerings. For information about the applicable system requirements, review the separate System Requirements document.
SAS Credit Scoring Server includes three standard SAS/ACCESS engines:
SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata must be explicitly selected in the order if you plan to host solution data on Teradata.
SAS Scoring Accelerator for Teradata is optional and is not included. A specific integration option is available for Teradata. If you choose to license SAS Scoring Accelerator for Teradata separately, you can select Teradata as one of the two included SAS/ACCESS engines of choice or license it separately as a third SAS/ACCESS engine. The SAS Embedded Process is also required to enable SAS Scoring Accelerator for Teradata and is included with the SAS Scoring Accelerator for Teradata. You will receive the SAS Embedded Process in a separate SAS Viya software order email (SOE).
SAS/ACCESS Interface to Hadoop must be explicitly selected in the order if you plan to host solution data in Hadoop.
SAS Scoring Accelerator for Hadoop is optional and is not included. A specific integration option is available for Hadoop. If you choose to license SAS Scoring Accelerator for Hadoop separately, you can select Hadoop as one of the two included SAS/ACCESS engines of choice or license it separately as a third SAS/ACCESS engine. The SAS Embedded Process is also required to enable SAS Scoring Accelerator for Hadoop and is included with SAS Scoring Accelerator for Hadoop. You will receive the SAS Embedded Process in a separate SAS Viya SOE.
SAS Data Integration Server includes a SAS Data Integration Server subcomponent, which is available in other offerings. For information about the applicable system requirements, review the separate System Requirements document.
Install the SAS Data Integration Server on the same machine as the SAS Credit Scoring Server, or on a separate machine.
SAS Data Integration Server includes two standard SAS/ACCESS engines of choice. It also includes three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice, plus General Industry Standards, which is included automatically.
SAS Enterprise BI Server includes the SAS Enterprise BI Server subcomponent, which is also available in other offerings. For information about the applicable system requirements, review the separate System Requirements document.
Install the SAS Enterprise BI Server on the same machine as the SAS Credit Scoring Server, or on a separate machine.
The SAS OLAP Server subcomponent is also available in other offerings. For information about the applicable system requirements, review the separate System Requirements document.
Install the SAS OLAP Server on the same machine as the SAS Credit Scoring Server, or on a separate machine.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes one standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice for transaction data. It must be the same as the engine that you selected for the SAS Credit Scoring Server.
SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine from the solution software.
Inclusion of SAS Visual Analytics LASR Server
For Hadoop Support
Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS engines, and SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server can be installed on the head node of the commodity hardware (symmetric) or on separate hardware (asymmetric). The Distributed LASR Base SAS components for SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting can therefore be installed on Windows for x64 while working with the Linux for x64 LASR grid.
Use of a co-located Hadoop File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to SAS 9.4: Support for Hadoop. The plug-ins require additional configuration. For more information, see the SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure 3.9: Installation and Configuration Guide.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
We recommend installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server Mid-Tier on a separate machine.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the Middle Tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
For the best user experience, the recommended screen resolution on client machines is 1280 x 1024.
The included plug-in for Microsoft Office is for Microsoft Excel only.
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS or Android to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
For a list of web browsers that are supported for the user interfaces, refer to the SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers page.
SAS Credit Scoring 6.5 has ended support for external databases. Only a SAS data source is supported.
A PostgreSQL database server is included to support the application data mart.
