Platform RTM for SAS

Platform RTM for SAS is a web-based tool that provides IT administrators a way to graphically view the status of devices and services within their SAS Grid environment as well as manage the policies and configuration of their grid. It is a visual tool to quickly track and diagnose issues before they affect service levels. Platform RTM for SAS includes drill-down capabilities to view details of hosts, jobs, queues and user activities while instant alerts on job performance and grid efficiency allow administrators to optimize usage and workloads. It includes customizable graphs to visually analyze resource usage, workload trends, and job behavior. It also includes GUI interfaces to allow administrators to update the policies and rules in the grid configuration as well as set up high availability for any of the services that are critical to the operation of the grid as well as the applications executing in the grid. Platform RTM for SAS helps system administrators improve decision-making, reduce costs and increase service levels for SAS grid deployments.

Platform RTM for SAS is supported on the following operating systems:

  • Red Hat Linux 64 bit
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit
  • Windows 7 32/64 bit

Platform RTM for SAS requires approximately 40GB disk space, 1 CPU and 2GB memory.

NOTE: If you have a UNIX grid, you must install the Linux version of Platform RTM for SAS on a Linux machine or a Linux virtual machine (VM). If you have a Windows grid, you must install the Windows version of Platform RTM for SAS on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008R2 machine or virtual machine (VM).

The Platform RTM for SAS install instructions indicate that it must be installed on an LSF client. However, if you are going to use Platform RTM for SAS to monitor only a single grid then installing it on an LSF server in that grid is perfectly acceptable. Therefore, you can install Platform RTM for SAS on either the Grid Control Server, a Grid Node or even a machine running the SAS Metadata Server that has LSF installed to provide high availability if and only if you will only ever monitor that single SAS grid.
