Installation Note 59627: Apply a license file for SAS® Data Management Studio and SAS® Data Management Server

This SAS Note describes how to apply a license file (SETINIT) for SAS Data Management Studio and SAS Data Management Server. To obtain a license file, contact SAS Contracts Support.

SAS Data Management Studio

Follow these instructions to apply a license file in SAS Data Management Studio:

  1. Save a copy of the license file to a local directory such as C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDataFluxDataManagementStudio\2.X\etc\license.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the etc directory of the root install location, which is commonly located at C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDataFluxDataManagementStudio\2.X.
  3. Edit the app.cfg file and set base/primary_license to SAS and base/primary_license_loc to the fully qualified location and filename of the SAS or DMP license file, as shown below:
base/primary_license = SAS
base/primary_license_loc = <DMStudio-install-path>\etc\license\SAS94_XXXXXX_12345678_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt
  1. Restart SAS Data Management Studio in order for the new license to be loaded.

You can also use the SAS Data Management Studio License Manager to apply a license. For more information, see Installation Note 49801: "Applying a SAS® installation data (license) file to SAS® Data Management Studio."

SAS Data Management Server

Follow these instructions to apply a license file in SAS Data Management Studio.

Windows:

  1. Save a copy of the license file to a local directory such as C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDataFluxDataManagementServer\serverX\etc\license.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the etc directory of the root install location, which is commonly located at C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASDataFluxDataManagementServer\serverX.
  3. Edit the app.cfg file and set base/primary_license to SAS and base/primary_license_loc to the fully qualified location and filename of the SAS or DMP license file, as shown below:
base/primary_license = SAS
base/primary_license_loc = <DMServer-install-path>\etc\license\SAS94_XXXXXX_12345678_Win_X64_Srv.txt
  1. Restart the SAS Data Management Server service in order for the new license to be loaded.

UNIX:

  1. Save a copy of the license file to a local directory such as SASHome/SASDataFluxDataManagementServer/serverX/etc/license.
  2. Navigate to the etc directory of the root install location for the server, which is commonly located at SASHome/SASDataFluxDataManagementServer/serverX.
  3. Edit the app.cfg file and set base/primary_license to SAS and base/primary_license_loc to the fully qualified location and filename of the SAS or DMP license file, as shown below:
base/primary_license = SAS
base/primary_license_loc = <DMServer-install-path>/etc/license/SAS94_XXXXXX_12345678_LINUX_X86-64.txt
  1. Restart the SAS Data Management Server process in order for the new license to be loaded.
