Usage Note 32540: The SAS® Software Navigator fails to launch or start up on a client machine

When you attempt to install SAS® on a client machine, the SAS Software Navigator might fail to launch or start up.

To work around this issue:

  1. Delete the following files:
    ssnprefs.xml, SSN.log, and SSN.log.lck from the C:\Documents and Settings\your-userid\ directory.

  2. Delete the following key from your Windows registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\ssn91

  3. Relaunch the SAS Software Navigator from its CD or from your SAS Software Depot.

Important Note: Deleting entries in the Windows registry is an advanced function and you should do this with the assistance of your IT staff. Additionally, be sure to back up your Windows registry before making any changes to it.
