Usage Note 31009: SAS Self-Paced e-Learning and SAS OnlineTutor® basic information

DetailsAboutRate It

SAS Self-Paced e-Learning courses are offered through the SAS Training department from the training pages of the support.sas.com web site:

http://www.sas.com/apps/elearning/elearning_category_welcome.jsp

These courses are purchased individually and provide exercises with SAS products to be used in conjunction, generally, with access to the products on a customer's system.

SAS OnlineTutor is a series of courses or course materials provided as a separately licensed product, shipped on CDs separately from other licensed SAS products, and installed separately at a customer's site for use locally. SAS OnlineTutor is available for SAS® 9.1.3 and prior releases. It is not available with SAS® 9.2, and is replaced by SAS Self-Paced e-Learning.

Sample data for use in both types of courses is normally provided with the SAS products (except SAS® Learning Edition), and set up involves selecting SAS Training from the help menu. SAS Learning Edition customers have to copy and paste code to set up the sample data from the "Before You Begin" section of a SAS Self-Paced e-Learning course(and are unlikely to be using SAS OnlineTutor).

SAS Self-Paced e-Learning and SAS OnlineTutor keep track of course progress using browser "cookies" which are specific to a given user on a given system.

You gain SAS Certification by passing a test at a licensed testing company at locations all over the country. There are SAS Self-Paced e-Learning courses to help prepare for taking the official SAS Certification exam.

Information on available SAS Self-Paced e-Learning courses, SAS Certification and other training is available at http://support.sas.com/training. Questions about training issues, such as payments and scheduling, can answered by submitting email to elearn@sas.com, or certification@sas.com.
