In the mainframe environment, if you are sorting a table in a SAS/AF application and you are using the host sort utility (SORTPGM=HOST), control might appear to be returned to the SAS/AF application via a visual queue such as the shape of the cursor. However, if you then attempt to issue the END command to close the current entry, the application resumes processing and the entry will not be closed. Depending on the size of the table you are sorting, this change in control within the SAS/AF application might happen a few times.
To circumvent this problem, change the value of the SORTPGM option to SAS so the host sort utility will not be used.
