JMP Essentials: An Illustrated Step-by-Step Guide for New Users, Third Edition Reviews
Hinrichs, Boiler and Walsh have written a friendly, readable and instructive guide to the JMP program for new users. The book is example based leading the reader through the most used and most useful graphical and analytical capabilities of JMP. I’d recommend it to all JMP novices, but I’m betting that even experienced users will find some value here.

The beauty of JMP as a program is that you don't need to be a computer scientist or statistician to take advantage of its power. It is structured with the needs and workflow of the user in mind. Moreover, if JMP were a book, this would be it. The only requirements for either are data and a problem in need of a solution. You don't even need prior JMP knowledge! Like the program, this book is task oriented and structured to help the reader draw relevant solutions to a set of common problems through data. Packed with step by step images and descriptions, the authors provide you with a stress-free walkthrough into JMP features, processes, and analytic applications. Just browse the contents page, find the section that addresses your specific problem, and you're on your way to a clear and appropriate solution!

JMP® Essentials: An Illustrated Guide for New Users, Third Edition by Curt Hendricks, Chuck Boiler and Susan Walsh is a clear easy to use step by step guide for getting started with JMP. In the foreword to this book, the authors compare the organization and layout to a cookbook.
They provide simple recipes to follow to become familiar with the menus and options and facilitate learning and use of JMP. This analogy holds true as you read and work through the text. The guidance comes in the form of instructions that are simple and easy to follow.
The book is well organized for new users. The authors begin by explaining how to get your data into JMP, an essential first step before beginning analysis. JMP provides several options to ease the import of data. The newest feature is Query Builder for those times when we need to import from a database.
The next several chapters of the book provide an introduction to the many graphical tools offered by JMP. A new feature that new users can get excited about is being able to export graphical animations into power point.
The book concludes with information on where to go for more, more help with using JMP, more knowledge about the functions in JMP, more knowledge about the statistics engine that supports JMP.
In the tradition of great cookbooks which have the potential to change our lives and our family traditions, this guide for new users of JMP has the potential to open a new world of possibilities. As many scientists and engineers will attest, the world of JMP will change your life.
