This document has been updated to reflect the requirements to deploy this SAS software along with SAS 9.4M8 (TS1M8), which became generally available in 2023.
SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard uses the following integrated set of SAS products:
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at SAS Third-Party Software Requirements - Baseline and Later Support.
Third-party anti-virus, anti-spyware, endpoint-protection, and system-monitoring software can interfere with SAS applications and can block files. For more information about the official guidance from SAS Technical Support, see the Anti-Virus section of the SAS Foundation System Requirements document that corresponds to the operating system where you are deploying SAS.
SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard requires SAS Embedded Process for Greenplum, Hadoop, or Teradata. SAS Embedded Process is provided to you as a separate software order email (SOE). The SOE contains instructions for deploying it for use with SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard.
SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard includes the following components:
The following SAS solutions are included with SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard Server:
SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard includes two SAS/ACCESS engines of choice for either Microsoft SQL Server, ODBC, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, and one additional SAS/ACCESS engine of choice. These ACCESS engines must match those in use by SAS Risk Governance Framework Server.
SAS Risk Stratum IRM Server also includes SAS Infrastructure for Risk Management.
SAS Risk Stratum MIP Server also includes the following components:
SAS recommends installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes one SAS/ACCESS engine of choice, for transactional data. It must be the same as one of the engines that you selected for the SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard Server.
Use of a co-located Hadoop File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to SAS 9.4: Support for Hadoop. The plug-ins require additional configuration. For more information, see the SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure 3.9: Installation and Configuration Guide.
SAS Solution LASR Analytic Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice. Select the same SAS/ACCESS engine that you selected for the SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server.
Install SAS Solution LASR Analytic Server on the same operating system as SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Asset and Liability Management Standard supports the open-source PostgreSQL database (as distributed by the PostgreSQL Global Development Group). SAS has tested with open-source PostgreSQL Database versions 12.0 and later; SAS recommends that you use a recent version of PostgreSQL 16.x or 17.x.
The database server should be provisioned with at least 64 GB of RAM and 16 CPU cores.
Compatibility with commercial/third-party derivatives of PostgreSQL is not implied or guaranteed unless requested, verified by SAS, and mentioned explicitly in a future version of this document.
Note: Support for other data sources must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For more information, contact your SAS Customer Support representative.
Allocate a minimum of 16 GB of RAM per CPU core for the machines in each tier.
Microsoft Excel 2013 or later is required.
SAS recommends installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine.
Allocate a minimum of 16 GB of RAM per CPU core for the machines in each tier.
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS or Android to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
