SAS 9 Data Governance is available for both distributed and non-distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server deployments. These system requirements apply to both LASR deployments. The headings below indicate whether components apply to a specific LASR deployment.
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions, subsequent minor updates, and subsequent major versions for each officially supported operating system. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at SAS Third-Party Software Requirements - Baseline and Later Support.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.Third-party anti-virus, anti-spyware, endpoint-protection, and system-monitoring software can interfere with SAS applications and can block files. For more information about the official guidance from SAS Technical Support, see the Anti-Virus section of the SAS Foundation System Requirements document that corresponds to the operating system where you are deploying SAS.
SAS 9 Data Governance Server supports only SAS DataFlux Data Management Platform 2.7.
SAS 9 Data Governance Server includes a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice and a Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice. If not specified, by default, SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale for English (USA) is included.
SAS Visual Process Orchestration Server is required when the SAS Data Quality Advanced Server site is a Windows 32-bit environment.
SAS Data Quality Server includes a SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice, the same as selected for SAS Data Quality Server. If not specified, by default, SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale for English (USA) will be included.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes one standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice. SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine from the solution software.
Inclusion of SAS Visual Analytics LASR Server
For Hadoop Support
Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS engines, and SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server can be installed on the head node of the commodity hardware (symmetric) or on separate hardware (asymmetric). The Distributed LASR Base SAS components for SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting can therefore be installed on Windows for x64 while working with the Linux for x64 LASR grid.
Use of a colocated Hadoop File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to the SAS 9.4 Support for Hadoop page. The plug-ins require additional configuration. For more information, see the SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure 3.5: Installation and Configuration Guide, available from the SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure documentation page.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS 9 Data Governance contains the SAS data server SAS Data Remediation Data Server, which requires additional configuration.
The size of the data server is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section “Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server“ in the guide SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/intellplatform/tabs/admin94.html
To avoid deployment issues with your SAS software, make sure that Java 6 or later is installed on the host before you begin the SAS deployment process.
SAS recommends installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Mid-Tier on a separate machine.
Note: SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server is only supported for Non-distributed LASR on Microsoft Windows for x64. For information about supported architecture for SAS Size Optimization on Linux and SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on Windows (Non-distributed), see the SAS Size Optimization Administrator's Guide.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
Note: Windows 10 (Home or Pro, 64-bit version) is also supported for SAS client software.
SAS Data Governance Studio includes a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice. Select the same language as the language that you selected for the SAS 9 Data Governance Server. It also includes either a Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice or a SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data of choice.
SAS Quality Knowledge Base Locale components are included with the software order. SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data components must be downloaded from the SAS Downloads and Hotfixes site.
Note: Windows 10 (Home or Pro, 64-bit version) is also supported for SAS client software.
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS or Android to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
The list of web browsers that SAS supports is updated as new products are tested and approved. For the latest information, visit the SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers page.
