To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/baseline-and-higher.html.
SAS Data Quality Advanced Server includes:
SAS Data Quality Advanced Server includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs. It also includes locales for SAS Quality Knowledge Base.
SAS Data Management Server Remote Function Call for SAP is included on request. It includes SAS Federation Server Driver for SAP.
Note: Data Management Enrichment nodes require reference data, delivered as "data packs." All data packs provided by SAS, except for those that support the Address Verification (QAS) node, must be licensed through Experian QAS. Visit the Download Data Packs page, https://documentation.sas.com/?docsetId=dmpdmsicg&docsetVersion=2.9&docsetTarget=n104rb0n7ho277n1ebvulniby2h0.htm, for more information.
SAS Data Quality Server includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs. It also includes locales for SAS Quality Knowledge Base. Select the same locale as the one you selected for SAS Data Quality Server.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes one standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice. SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine from the solution software.
Inclusion of SAS Visual Analytics LASR Server
For Hadoop Support
Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS engines, and SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server can be installed on the head node of the commodity hardware (symmetric) or on separate hardware (asymmetric). The Distributed LASR Base SAS components for SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting can therefore be installed on Windows for x64 while working with the Linux for x64 LASR grid.
SAS LASR Analytic Server (Distributed Mode) requires Greenplum or Teradata (appliance obtained from vendor) or Hadoop (commodity hardware).
Use of a co-located Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). For information about supported Hadoop distributions, refer to https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-hadoop.html. The plug-ins require additional configuration. For more information, see SAS High-Performance Analytics Infrastructure 3.5: Installation and Configuration Guide at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/hp-analytics-infrastructure/index.html.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Data Quality Advanced contains the following SAS data servers that require additional configuration:
The size of each of these data servers is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section titled Initial Configuration Recommendations in the "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" section of SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability.
Starting with SAS 9.4M7, the SAS Web Server (a specific version of the Apache HTTP Server) that is delivered with the Middle Tier cannot be configured on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11. Install the SAS Web Server on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 or another supported operating system.
Note: With SAS 9.4M8, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 is no longer supported.
As an alternative, you can choose not to install the SAS Web Server.
SAS recommends installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Mid-Tier on a separate machine.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
SAS Data Quality Advanced Studio includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs.
SAS Data Quality Advanced Client includes:
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS or Android to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
The list of web browsers that SAS supports is updated as new products are tested and approved. For the latest information, visit the SAS 9.4 Support for Web Browsers page at https://support.sas.com/en/documentation/third-party-software-reference/9-4/support-for-9-4-web-browsers.html.
DataFlux Data Management Server and DataFlux Data Management Studio support the following databases for repository storage:
A few SAS Data Management components have been deprecated (as of July 2020). Before upgrading your SAS Data Management solution software, be sure to read the section of the SAS 9.4 Guide to Software Updates and Product Changes that is relevant for your product.
