This document has been updated to reflect the requirements to deploy this SAS software along with SAS 9.4M9 (TS1M9), which was generally available in 2025.
SAS has fully integrated the DataFlux suite of data quality, data integration, data governance, and master data management solutions. SAS data management offerings include products with the DataFlux name, such as DataFlux Data Management Studio, as well as other SAS products, including Base SAS and SAS/ACCESS interfaces.
When SAS integrated the DataFlux product line into SAS offerings, some products were enhanced and rebranded. Other products have retained the DataFlux name but continue to be enhanced and adapted to SAS requirements.
Third-party anti-virus, anti-spyware, endpoint-protection, and system-monitoring software can interfere with SAS applications and can block files. For more information about the official guidance from SAS Technical Support, see the Anti-Virus section of the SAS Foundation System Requirements document that corresponds to the operating system where you are deploying SAS.
If TLS is configured for communications between SAS Data Management Standard Studio and SAS Data Management Standard Server, supported operating-system cryptographic libraries must be installed.
On Windows, SAS Data Management Studio 2.10 supports OpenSSL 3.x
cryptographic libraries and TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 protocols. The OpenSSL
DLLs must be installed in the Windows system directory or in a directory
that is in the system
PATH
.
In UNIX environments, the vendor-provided OpenSSL library associated with your host must be installed:
Some additional configuration is required on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x to use OpenSSL 3.x. Red Hat does not provide or support OpenSSL 3.x on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.x. For more information, see Configure Enhanced Security in the DataFlux Data Management Server 2.10: Administrator's Guide.
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document.
The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at SAS Third-Party Software Requirements - Baseline and Later Support.
SAS Data Management Standard Server includes the following software:
SAS Data Management Standard Server includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs. It also includes locales for SAS Quality Knowledge Base.
The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015-2022 is required. If this software is not already installed on your machine, visit the Microsoft Download Center.
If TLS is configured for communications between SAS Data Management Standard Studio and SAS Data Management Standard Server, supported operating-system cryptographic libraries must be installed. For more information, see Security Considerations.
Note: SAS Data Management enrichment features require reference data, delivered as "data packs." Data Packs must be purchased as part of your SAS contract. Visit the Download Data Packs page for more information.
SAS Data Quality Standard Server includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs. It also includes locales for SAS Quality Knowledge Base.
SAS Data Management Server Remote Function Call for SAP is included on request. It includes SAS Federation Server Driver for SAP.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Data Management Standard contains the following SAS data servers that require additional configuration:
The size of each of these data servers is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see Initial Configuration Recommendations in the "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" section of SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability.
Starting with SAS 9.4M7, the SAS Web Server (a specific version of the Apache HTTP Server) that is delivered with the Middle Tier cannot be configured on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11. Install the SAS Web Server on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 or on another supported operating system. As an alternative, you can choose not to install the SAS Web Server.
Note: With SAS 9.4M8 and later, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 is no longer supported. With SAS 9.4M9 and later, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 is no longer supported.
SAS Data Management Standard Studio includes SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Packs. It also includes locales for SAS Quality Knowledge Base.
SAS Data Management Server Remote Function Call for SAP is included on request. It includes SAS Federation Server Driver for SAP.
SAS Management Server and SAS Data Management Studio (as well as DataFlux Data Management Server and DataFlux Data Management Studio) support the following databases for repository storage:
A few SAS Data Management components have been deprecated. Before upgrading your SAS Data Management solution software, read the section of the SAS 9.4 Guide to Software Updates and Product Changes that is relevant for your product.
