Problem Note 68696: SAS® Enterprise Guide® might stop responding while using the Query Builder

When you use the Query Builder feature in SAS Enterprise Guide, the application might stop responding without displaying any error message. You might also see that Windows Task Manager shows a Suspended status for the SAS Enterprise Guide process. This problem can happen if the application reaches the time-out setting for the Unlock open data after inactivity (minutes) option and is trying to close other open data sets simultaneously. This behavior is controlled by this particular option.
Depending on the user, different activity (such as closing the data sets) can interfere and potentially block other data access operations to the same server or data set. By disabling the Unlock open data after inactivity (minutes) option, SAS Enterprise Guide does not unlock data automatically.
If you are experiencing this issue in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.x, take the following step to disable the option:
Launch SAS Enterprise Guide and go to Tools ▶ Options ▶ Data ▶ Performance. Uncheck the Unlock open data after inactivity (minutes) box.
