Problem Note 66918: The message "Error: Authentication of a connection from peer node 'host-name' failed because the time stamp is out of range" occurs on a CAS node
SAS® Cloud Analytic Services (CAS) nodes might fail to start with the following message in the CAS log located in the cas_YYYY-MM-DD_host-name_pid.log file:
Authentication of a connection from peer node host-name failed because the time stamp is out of range. The difference between the time stamp on the peer node and the current system time is ### seconds. Coordinating the system times between this system and the peer system may resolve this problem.
This error occurs for CAS nodes when the servers do not have the same system date/time and need to be synced.
In order to resolve this error, complete these steps:
- Sync the system clocks for all CAS node hosts.
- Enable the Network Time Protocol daemon.
- Restart your CAS nodes.
If these steps do not resolve the error, contact SAS Technical Support.
