Installation Note 51269: SAS® Management Console modification to support Java run-time environment 1.7.0_25 or higher for Java web start SAS® Enterprise Miner(tm) client

You can define a Virtual Machine Options metadata argument using SAS® Management Console for invoking SAS Enterprise Miner through Java Web Start. This argument enables you to install Java run-time environments at 1.7.0_25 and higher and circumvents a problem that was introduced by 1.7.0_21. Follow these steps to define the argument.
- Launch SAS Management Console. Connect to the metadata server that is associated with the deployment where SAS Enterprise Miner is configured. Log on as the sasadm@saspw account.
- Under the Plug-ins tab, expand Application Management ► Configuration Manager
► SAS Application Infrastructure. Click Enterprise Miner Mid-Tier JWS

- Right-click Enterprise Miner Mid-Tier JWS 12.1 and select Properties.
- Under the Settings Tab, locate the Enterprise Miner Java Web Start Options section. Select
Virtual Machine Options.
- In the VM arguments field, add the Java property that you need to propagate to all of
the SAS Enterprise Miner Java Web Start clients. Enter
"jdk.lang.Process.allowAmbigousCommands=true" as shown below:
Note: The spelling of "Ambigous" is intentional.
- Select OK to accept the changes and exit the Enterprise Miner Mid-Tier JWS 12.1 Properties dialog box.
- Make sure that the individual users follow these subsequent steps to ensure that the changes take effect:
- Clear the Java cache: How do I clear the Java cache?
- Clear the web browser cache: How do I clear my web browser cache?
- Launch the SAS Enterprise Miner Java Web Start Status page. Verify that the Java VM Arguments is displayed as follows:
This Java argument works for SAS Enterprise Miner versions 7.1, 7.1_M1, 7.1_M2. 12.1, 12.1_M1 and 12.3.
