Usage Note 49804: Updating a SASĀ® Metadata Server environment to use Java 7 in the z/OS environment
This note assumes that you have read and are familiar with SAS Note 49296: "Using Java 7 with SAS® 9.3 TS1M2."
Important: Before starting this process, read through the entire note so that you are aware of all preliminary requirements and potential issues as well as optional ways to accomplish these tasks.
Requirements
- Your installation must be SAS 9.3 TS1M2.
SAS® 9.2 and earlier releases of SAS 9.3 are not supported.
- If you are not currently running SAS 9.3 TS1M2, you must first update your installation by applying maintenance. You can request maintenance by completing this form, or by contacting your SAS Installation Representative, or by contacting your SAS account team. (If you need help with identifying your account team, call SAS directly at 1-800-727-0025, option 2.)
Follow These Steps
-
Complete all of the steps in SAS Note 49312: "Updating an existing SAS® 9.3 (TS1M2) Foundation installation to use Java 7 in z/OS environments."
Do not proceed to the next step until all items in SAS Note 49312 have been completed successfully.
- Manually update the JRE in the Lev1 configuration directory.
Under the UNIX file system, the level_env.sh script file that resides in $SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/ contains a JAVA_JRE_COMMAND= variable. Set this variable to the path for your alternate JRE, as shown in the following example:
JAVA_JRE_COMMAND=/usr/lpp/java/J7.0/bin/java
Note: The Java version must be at least 1.7.0 build date 20120901 (SR2) (31-bit).
