SAS^®9.3 TS1M2 supports both Java 6 and Java 7. SAS Customers are not required to upgrade to Java 7, and SAS will continue to support SAS 9.3 TS1M2 deployed using supported versions of Java 6.
The purpose of this SAS Note is to guide you through the process of deploying or upgrading SAS 9.3 TS1M2 to use Java 7.

Before proceeding, refer to the following pages if your site deploys or is planning to deploy a SAS environment that includes any of the following products, solutions, or technologies:

• A Java 7 JRE or JDK at Update 21 or above. Read important alerts at the pages off Third-Party Software for SAS^® 9.3 (TS1M0, TS1M1, and TS1M2).
• Xming and Cygwin X server users (includes SAS^® 9.3 environments running Java 7 and SAS^® 9.4)
• SAS/GRAPH ^® software
• SAS^® Forecast Server or SAS^® Forecast Studio
• SAS^® Enterprise Miner^™
• JBoss Community version (free)

As you begin to plan the process of using Java 7 in your new or existing SAS 9.3 TS1M2 environment, be aware that you will likely need to complete one or more of the following tasks:

• Install using a Product Revision of 13w18 or later. New 9.3 TS1M2 orders must be at a product revision level of 13w18 or later. This applies only to new installations, not existing 9.3(TS1M2) installations.
• Download and install specific hot fixes.
• Install or upgrade to a newer version of a Web Application Server.
• Perform manual changes or modifications as instructed in SAS documentation.
