Installation Note 46649: Errors might occur when you run the SAS® 9.3 Installation Qualification Tool on an x64 system
Using the SAS Installation Qualification Tool might cause errors if all of the following are true:
- You are running SAS® 9.3 for Windows on a Windows x64 operating system
- You installed two different SAS 9.3 for Windows orders on the same machine:
- You first installed a 32-bit order, and
- You then installed an x64 order.
If all of these conditions are true, skip down to the section "Workaround," below.
If you do not know what your Windows operating system is, do the following:
-
Select Start ► Run, type msinfo32.exe, and press the ENTER key; or, on Windows 7, click Start, type msinfo32.exe in the "Search programs and file" box, and press the ENTER key.
When the System Information dialog box appears, look in the right pane for the entries OS Name and System Type. Here is an example:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise
System Type x64-based PC
Note: If the System Type is x64, you have a 64-bit operating system. If the System Type is x86, you have a 32-bit operating system.
- To check the type of order that you have (for 32-bit or for x64), open the soi.html file and look for the operating system. Here is an example:
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® Server & Workstation for x64
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® Workstation & Server 32-bit
For more details, see SAS Note 44477: "Determining your SAS® 9.3 release."
Workaround
To get a clean SAS Installation Qualification Tool Report for verification of a successful installation, perform the following steps:
- Select Start ► Settings ► Control Panel ► Add or Remove Programs; or, on Windows 7, select Start ► Settings ► Control Panel ► Programs and Features.
- Select SAS 9.3 from the list and click Uninstall.
- Choose the language in which you want to view the SAS Deployment Manager and click OK. The default is English.
- In the Select Products to Uninstall dialog box, click Select All to uninstall everything and click Next.
- In the Checking System dialog box, you do not click Next. Once the installation runs through the loading installation package, it proceeds to the next Checking System dialog box automatically.
- In the Summary dialog box, click Start to begin the process of installing.
- In the Deployment Complete dialog box, click Finish.
- Reboot your PC. Log in with the local administrator account that was used to perform the original installation or as an Administrator.
- Delete the ValidationFileList.xml file from this directory:
C:\Program Files\SASHome\InstallMisc\InstallLogs
- Reinstall the x64 order.
