Problem Note 44869: Opening a SAS program directly from Microsoft Windows Explorer might unexpectedly launch SAS/ASSIST® Workplace
When opening a SAS file directly from Microsoft Windows Explorer, the program might unexpectedly launch in the SAS/ASSIST Workplace instead of in the SAS Editor window.
Within the SAS status line, you might also receive the error:
ERROR: Window DISPATCH does not exist.
In addition, you might also receive the following program halt in the Log window:
If this situation occurs, it could corrupt your SASUSER.PROFILE catalog. As a result, you might need to delete the PROFILE.SAS7BCAT file in the Windows folder for your SASUSER path so that SAS will create a new Profile catalog the next time that you invoke SAS.
This issue is related to SAS Note 16563, where the combined length of the full file path and filename to be opened is greater than 158 characters.
Alternatively, you can open the file by shortening the combined length of the path and filename or by opening the file within SAS using the File ► Open Program menu selection.
