Usage Note 16563: "Error: Window DISPATCH does not exist" message when opening SAS
program from Windows Explorer
If you open a SAS Program from Windows Explorer, the following error
message might appear:
Error: Window DISPATCH does not exist
This message appears if the complete path and filename are more than 158
characters long. The command needed to start SAS OLE automation is
98 characters long and, combined, they cannot exceed 256 characters
because the operating system has a 256-character string limit.
To circumvent the problem, reduce the number of characters in your
path and filename.
Alternately, you can open SAS first and then click on File->'Open
Program' and reference the SAS program. This method works if the
complete path and filename are longer than 158 characters.
