Usage Note 42901: Using SAS® Financial Management with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office client applications
Beginning with release 5.2 of SAS Financial Management, the SAS Financial Management Add-In for Microsoft Excel supports the use of Microsoft Office 2010 desktop applications. However, it is important to note that 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office client applications will only function with the 4.3 release of the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office running in (WOW64) compatibility mode. This means that your program is actually running in 32-bit mode, even though it is installed on the x64-based versions of the Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Professional operating systems.
Beginning with release 5.1 of the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, full support will be provided for 64-bit Microsoft Office 2010 client applications running on certain 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems. The SAS Financial Management Add-In for Microsoft Excel will provide this support beginning with release 5.3 of SAS Financial Management
For more information on supported Windows operating systems for the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office and Office 2010, please refer to SAS Note 38120.
For more information on the Microsoft WOW64 subsystem and 32-bit/64-bit compatibility mode, please refer to Microsoft Support Note 896456.
If you run the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office release 4.3 in (WOW64) compatibility mode:
Please note that the WOW64 subsystem creates a 32-bit environment on the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional. Some 32-bit programs might run slower on these operating systems than they would on 32-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP. For example, a 32-bit program might run slower on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition than it would on Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
Alternatively, some 32-bit programs that require a large amount of memory might exhibit increased performance on the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional. This performance increase occurs because the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional support more physical memory than the 32-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional.
