Installation Note 38146: Using log files to troubleshoot installation of SAS® 9.1.3
The installation process of SAS 9.1.3 creates several log files. If you encounter problems during your installation, send these log files to SAS Technical Support so that they can troubleshoot the problem.
If you are installing only SAS® Foundation Software
For such installations, the most important log is the sassetup.log file, which is located in the !sasroot directory.
On the Windows platform, if the sassetup.log file is not in the !sasroot directory, look for the log file that appears in the temporary directories that are listed in the following table. Send the log file to SAS Technical Support.
Platform |
Location |
Files |
Windows XP |
%%USERPROFILE%\LOCALS~1\Temp\
{68624FB8-2512-46B5-9664-64366DCCB3EB}
and !sasroot\
* The default location is:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\sassetup.log
|
SASSETUP.LOG
|
Windows Vista |
%%USERPROFILE%\LOCALS~1\Temp\
{68624FB8-2512-46B5-9664-64366DCCB3EB}
and !sasroot\
* The default location is:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\sassetup.log
|
SASSETUP.LOG
|
UNIX and z/OS |
SASROOT/install/admin/logs
For example: $HOME/install_log_year_month_date.000 |
install_log_year_
month_date.000
|
Installations initiated from the SAS® Software Navigator
For installations of SAS® software that are initiated from the SAS Software Navigator, provide the ssn.log and ssnprefs.xml files to SAS Technical Support. Similarly, there is a sasprefs.txt file that is generated in the UNIX environment.
See the following table for the locations of the ssn.log and the ssnprefs.xml files.
Platform |
Location |
Files |
Windows XP |
%USERPROFILE%\
* The default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\*userid_of_installer*\
|
SSNPREFS.XML
SSN.LOG
|
Windows Vista |
%USERPROFILE%\

If the System Requirements Wizard fails
If this wizard fails, send SAS Technical Support the "SRW for SAS Software on date.txt" log file from the
C:\Program Files\SAS\Setup Logs directory.
