Usage Note 33041: Failed to Start Server errors when trying to open or create a project
When you try to open or create a project within SAS
® Enterprise Miner™, the following error message might appear:
Failed to Start Server
If this error occurs, first verify that the object spawner (the SAS Lev1 OB service) is started by going to: Start ► Run. In the Run window that appears, type in services.msc and press the Enter key. A Services window will appear. Scroll through the list until you See SAS Lev1 OB - EMiner (this is the default entry name).
If the service is not started, start it by right clicking on the service name and choosing the start option. If errors appear when trying to start this service, see SN-20383 for steps to resolve errors.
If the object spawner service is started, log on to SAS® Management Console and follow these steps:
1. Go to Server Manager ► SASMain ► SASMain ► Logical Workspace Server ► SASMain ► Workspace Server. Right click and choose Properties.
2. Click on the Options tab
3. Under Launch Commands ► Commands, verify that there are no duplicates of -noxwait -xcmd
Here is an example of the launch command line:
sas -noxwait -xcmd -config "C:\SAS\EMiner\Lev1\SASMain\sasv9.cfg"
If the noxwait and xcmd commands appear more than once, remove the duplicates and click OK to exit the dialog window.
After making the changes, restart the object spawner and then try to open or create a SAS Enterprise Miner project.
