Problem Note 32616: "Could not create global profile (SAS)" in SAS® Web Report Studio log
The SAS Web Report Studio log might contain the following warning and error message:
WRS 15:41:58,957 WARN [5ae0becd171e88c7:186d484:11838936327:-7fc9 SAS Web Administrator]
citation.model.pfs.WRSProfileMgr - com.sas.services.ServiceException:
The backend is uninitialized. The Profile can't be retrieved or persisted.
WRS 15:41:58,977 ERROR [5ae0becd171e88c7:186d484:11838936327:-7fc9 SAS Web Administrator]
citation.model.pfs.WRSProfileMgr - com.sas.apps.citation.model.pfs.profile.WRSProfileException:
could not create global profile (SAS)
One known symptom of this error is that SAS Web Report Studio fails to recognize any user as having a metadata identity, which can cause authorization problems. This error can also cause HTTP status 500 errors when attempting to access SAS® Information Delivery Portal.
This error can occur when an incorrect domain URL is specified for your global and SAS metadata profiles. To resolve this error, perform the following steps in SAS Management Console.
Note: The global profile is created when you run the SAS program named LoadDefaultPreferences
as part of installing the SAS Web Infrastructure Kit. For more information, see your instructions.html file, which is typically located in your SAS configuration directory.
- Expand Foundation Services Manager and navigate down to Platform User Service.
- Right-click on Platform User Service and select Properties.
- Click the Service Configuration tab.
- Click Edit Configuration to open the User Service Configuration dialog box.
- Click the Profiles tab. Since you are seeing the above warning and error message, you probably have both profiles listed as shown below.
- Select global and then click Edit.
- The value in the Domain URL field is likely incorrect. Make any necessary changes so that this value points to your metadata server. The following image shows an example of a correctly specified value.
Click OK to return to the User Service Configuration dialog box.
- Since the SAS profile typically uses the same domain URL value as the global profile, this value is probably also incorrect. So, make any changes necessary so that Domain URL value matches the Domain URL value that is used for the global profile.
Note: For information about creating a SAS profile see SAS Note 32589.
- Click OK until you have exited all of the dialog boxes.
- Right-click on Platform User Service, and select Refresh.
- Restart your servlet container (i.e., Tomcat, WebLogic, or Websphere).
