Problem Note 31834: BI Manager plug-in missing in SAS® Management Console
After you go through your installation and you notice that your BI Manager plug-in is
missing in the SAS Management Console, please send in the following information
to help us debug this issue:
- ssnprefs.xml — C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>
Where the userid is who performed the installation. For example:
C:\Documents and Settings\saszsr\ssnprefs.xml
- vpd.properties — C:\WinNT or C:\Windows
- Was SAS installed previously, before you performed this installation?
If yes, what SAS release and Service Pack were installed? If you are
not sure, send the sassetup.log file from the following directory:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1
- plan.xml — the file that was used during the installation, unless a
sample plan file was used. If you have a custom plan file, this would
have been sent to your by your SAS Account Rep.
- If you installed from a SAS Software Depot, go to the following
directory and send in the cd1.id file. For example:
;<path_to_SAS_Software_Depot>:\disk1\
- If you installed from physical media, insert the SAS Setup CD and
send the cd1.id file, or you look on the outside of the SAS Setup CD
and provide the CD Set Version number and date.
- In the C:\Documents and Settings\<userid_who_did_the_install>
directory, send any errorLog*.txt files you might have. For example:
errorLog_SAS_Management_Console.txt
This problem might be caused if you had a previous SAS installation with SAS Service Pack 3 (Rev #15) and the vpd.properties file becomes corrupt. When this happens, it prevents the BI Manager Plug-in from getting installed.
The problem can be fixed by installing SAS® Foundation Services.
The SAS BI Manager 1.4 requires SAS Foundation Services 1.4 to be installed.
Please note that the SAS Foundation Services 1.4 does not get shipped with Service Pack 4,
so an additional installation is necessary.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
In some cases the BI Manager plug-in has been missing in various installations. The BI Manager is used to register and manage metadata for information maps, reports, and stored processes. This gets installed with SAS® Foundation Services 1.4.
