Usage Note 31427: An "Access is denied" or "Copy Failure" error message occurs when copying a SAS Software Depot or admin/client image to a network
If you have downloaded a SAS Software Depot to a local drive, it can be copied to a network location so that others can access it. During the copy process, you might receive an "Access is denied" error. The full error is as follows:
Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy autorun: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and
that the file is not currently in use.
In other instances, this error message appears and the image or depot creation balks at 54% or 55%:
Copy Failure
A problem was encountered while copying :\\autorun.inf.
Some McAfee VirusScan Enterprise software settings prevent autorun.inf from being copied, which causes the entire copy process to be incomplete and the error message to appear.
If you have McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, an administrator can perform the following steps:
- Open VirusScan Console.
- Choose the properties of Access Protection.
- Select the File, Share, and Folder Protection tab.
- Uncheck Prevent remote creation of autorun.inf files.
- Click Apply and OK to exit out of Access Protection.
Once these steps have been taken, delete the files from the image or the depot from the earlier attempt and try copying the SAS Software Depot to the network location again.
