Usage Note 24258: I have a single-machine, single-user installation of SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS BI Server. I changed my Windows password and my applications aren't working as expected. Do I need to change my password elsewhere?
If you change your Windows password after SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS BI Server is installed and if you have a single-machine, single-user configuration of SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS BI Server, then you will need to update the password in a few additional places. Perform the following steps to update the password information in your SAS installation.
Use either SAS Personal Login Manager or SAS Management Console to change your password in the SAS metadata repository.
Change your password for the SAS Object Spawner. You can choose to save your password in plain text or encrypt your password.
Optionally, you can encrypt your new password using SAS proprietary 32-bit encryption. For example, to encrypt a password of "SAStrust1" you would submit the following code in the SAS Program Editor:
proc pwencode in='SAStrust1' method=sasenc;
run;
Copy the encrypted password that is written to your SAS log. It begins with the string {sasenc}.
Use a text editor to open the object spawner's OMRConfig.xml file, which is located in the SAS configuration directory. The following path is an example location of the OMRConfig.xml file:
C:\SAS\BIArchitecture\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner\OMRConfig.xml
where C:\SAS\BIArchitecture
is the configuration directory that you specified in the SAS Configuration Wizard.
In the OMRConfig.xml file, locate the following line:
<Login Name="Metadata Login" UserId="'your-user-name'" Password="your-password" />
where your-user-name
is your user name and your-password
is your password.
Replace the value of the Password parameter with the new value (either in plain text or in its encrypted form). Ensure that you overwrite the entire value that is enclosed in quotation marks (").
Save the OMRConfig.xml file.
If you have SAS BI Server installed, then you must also change the password for SAS Web Report Studio. For instructions, see Usage Note 24259 , which describes the steps for changing your SAS Web Report Studio password.
If you restarted your machine when you changed your SAS Web Report Studio password, then you do not need to restart your machine again. Otherwise, restart your machine.
