If you execute a stored process from the SAS Information Delivery Portal using a URL Display Portlet and specify a URL that uses the SASStoredProcess servlet, you will be prompted again for user authentication unless you previously executed a stored process from your current ID portal session. To avoid receiving a second prompt for user authentication, employ one of the following methods.

Method 1 - Create a Collection Portlet

Execute the stored process from a Collection Portlet to avoid getting prompted again for user name and password. Follow these steps to create a Collection Portlet and add a stored process:

1. Select Options ► Edit Content.
2. Click Add Portlets at the bottom of the Edit Page Content page.
3. On the Add Portlets to Page page, select Collection Portlet and provide a name for your portlet. Next, click Add and then click Done.
4. Click OK on the Edit Page Content page.
5. On your main portal page, click the Edit Content icon.
6. On the Edit Portlet Content page, click Add Items.
7. On the Add Items to Portlet page, select the Search tab. Then, search for the name of the stored process that you want to add. Then, click the Add box that is associated with the stored process that you want to add.
8. Click the Add button at the top of the page.
9. Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
10. Click OK on the Edit Portlet Content page.

Method 2 - Create a URL Display Portlet

See Sample 32158: "How to Create a URL Display Portlet that Displays the Output of a SAS® Stored Process".

The steps are also described below.

Create a URL Display Portlet and use the following approach to avoid getting prompted for authentication a second time:

1. Find the SASStoredProcess URL of the stored process that you want to execute.
1. Select Search and search SAS Stored Processes for the stored process that you want to execute. Then, click the stored process to execute it.
2. On the Execution Options page, select GET for the HTTP Method, then execute the stored process.
3. Note the URL address at the top of your Web browser. For example, the URL should be something like this:

http://aa.bb.com:8080/SASStoredProcess/do?_program=SBIP%3A%2F%2F Foundation%2FBIP+Tree%2FTest%2FSample%3A+Hello+World%28StoredProcess29

4. Bring up a text editor and save this Web address. You will need it later.
2. Create an application using the following approach.
1. On the main Portal page, select Options and then select Create New Content.
2. In the Create New Content window, select Application. Then, click the Create button.
3. In the Create a New Application window, specify the name of your application. On the URL line, specify the Web address that you saved in step 1C above.
4. Click the Create button. Then, click the Done button twice to return to the main portal page.

3. At the top of your Portal window, select Search. Then, select the application box and search for the application that you created in step 2 above. Then click Search.

   This should cause the name of the newly created application to be displayed. Right-click the name of the application and select Copy shortcut. Then, save the shortcut to a text editor. The URL should be something like this:

   http://aa.bb.com:8080/Portal/search/syndication.wiz? com.sas.portal.ItemId=WebApplication%2Bomi%3A%2F%2FFoundation%2F reposname%3DFoundation%2FDocument%3Bid%3DA5N68MWJ.B10002BE

   Note that the Web address includes the words syndication.wiz and does not contain SASStoredProcess in the address.

4. Create a URL Display Portlet (using an approach similar to the approach described in Method 1, except select URL Display Portlet rather than Collection Portlet).

   On the Edit Portlet page:

   1. Check Show URL content inside an I-Frame.
   2. For the URL, specify the URL address that you saved in Item 3 above.
