Usage Note 16006: "IKernel.exe application error" message appears when installing SAS 9.x
and SAS 8.x install present
When you install SAS 9.x, the following error message might appear:
IKernel.exe -- Application Error. The instruction at "0x4fef21fe"
referenced memory at "0x00174620. The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.
This error could occur where there is an existing SAS 8.x install
present. If this error occurs, follow these steps to correct it.
1. Browse to C:\Program Files\SAS Institute\Shared Files\JRE.
2. Rename JRE to JRE1 or remove the JRE folder entirely.
3. Verify the System Requirements again.
4. Install SAS 9.x.
5. Invoke SAS 9.x.
