Problem Note 14161: SAS® programs opened from Windows Explorer are appended to existing SAS code if SAS code is in the Enhanced Editor window
Starting in SAS 9, if you have SAS program statements in an Enhanced
Editor window, then switch to Microsoft Windows Explorer and choose
Open with SAS 9.1 for a .SAS file, the SAS program opens in
the current SAS 9 session, but it appends to the SAS program statements
already in the Enhanced Editor window.
Currently the only circumvention is to avoid opening existing SAS
programs through Windows Explorer. You can either open the existing
SAS program by clicking on File > Open from the SAS menus or, in the
SAS Explorer window, navigate to the existing SAS program through
the My Computer icon.
Note: If you are using the SAS Program Editor instead of the SAS
Enhanced Editor, then appending to the existing SAS code is the default behavior.
This behavior is changed in SAS 9.2. SAS Note 32416 explains the new behavior.
