Section 1, Task 3: Create a Test PDB and Process, Reduce, and Report on Data
Action 4: Display your reports

  1. Invoke IT Service Vision with write access to SITELIB.

    See Section 1, Task 1: Start the IT Service Vision Software

  2. Add the new PDB to your list of PDBs that IT Service Vision knows.

    Follow this path from the main menu

    PDB Admin -> Manage PDBs/Switch PDB

    IT Service Vision displays your list of known PDBs. Your list of known PDBs is stored in your SASUSER library and contains the names of PDBs that you defined or that someone else defined and you added to your list by any one or more of these methods:

    Select Actions and Create/Add. IT Service Vision prompts you for the name of the new PDB. Enter the high-level-qualifiers of the PDB from the 'quick start' job and then select OK. Now your list of known PDBs includes the new PDB.

  3. Make the new PDB the active PDB.

    Select the new PDB and then follow this path:

    ItemActions -> Activate -> select WRITE -> OK

    Note: This task does not require write access, but the task after this one does. Thus, getting write access now is a convenience for later.

    To return to the main menu, select File and End.

  4. Add the icon to the main menu.

    In these steps, you will add an icon called Daily Reports to the main menu. The Daily Reports icon will display a popup menu with two items: List Graphs and Goback.

    The List Graphs selection will display a list of the already-generated graph reports that are stored in the ADMIN.CPEGRAFS SAS catalog of the PDB. Users can then view and print the reports. The Goback item will enable users to return to the main menu.

    1. Identify the menu to which the Daily Reports icon is to be added.

      Follow this path from the main menu:

      Options -> Build Site Menus

      Select (click on) IT Service Vision - MVS Server, which is at the top of the menu tree.

    2. Add the Daily Reports menu.

      To display the window for adding submenus, follow this path:

      Edit -> Add -> Menu

      IT Service Vision displays the Edit Menus window.

      To make the Daily Reports item, do the following:

      • In the Title field, type in Daily Reports. In the Description field, type in Daily PDB Reports.

      • Select a User Level of General User and a Menu Style of Popup menu.

      • Select Icon. All available icons are displayed (you can page or scroll to see them all). Select one to represent the new item for the main menu. In this example, icon 56 was chosen.

      • Then select OK.

      In the menu tree, you will see that the Daily Reports item has been added to the main menu.

    3. Erase the pointer to the main menu.

      De-select IT Service Vision - MVS Server (by clicking on it again).

  5. Add the pull-down items to the new icon.

    1. Point to the Daily Reports menu.

      To identify the submenu to which the list item and goback item are to be added, select (click on) Daily Reports.

    2. Add the List item.

      To display the window for adding programs, follow this path:

      Edit -> Add -> Inquiry

      IT Service Vision displays the Edit Inquiry window.

      To make the List item

      • In the Title field, type List.

      • In the Program field, type SITELIB.CPUPGMS.DRLIST.SOURCE and then select the right arrow. IT Service Vision displays a work area for the DRLIST.SOURCE program. As the first line, type
        proc greplay igout=admin.cpegrafs; run; quit;

        and then select File and End.

      • In the Description field, type Invokes PROC GREPLAY for CPEGRAFS catalog in ADMIN.

      • Select a User Level of General User.

      • Select OK.

      IT Service Vision displays the menu tree with a List Graphs item under the Daily Reports item.

    3. Add the Goback item.

      To add the Goback Item, follow this path:

      Edit -> Add -> Goback

      IT Service Vision displays the menu tree with Goback as an item under the Daily Reports item.

    4. Erase the pointer to the Daily Reports item.

      De-select Daily Reports (by clicking on it again).

    5. Return to the main menu.

      Select File and End. IT Service Vision writes the new menu items to SITELIB and then returns you to the main menu.

      Notice that Daily Reports is now a choice on the Main Menu.

  6. View the graph reports that you generated.

    Follow this path from the main menu:

    Daily Reports -> List

    In front of a report that you want to view, type S and then press ENTER or RETURN. IT Service Vision displays the report.

    To return to the list of reports, select File and then End.

    When you are finished looking at the reports, you can return to the main menu by selecting File and then End from the list of reports.

    Note: You may want to show the reports to your manager as confirmation that you successfully collected, processed, reduced, and reported on data from your site.

  7. View the text reports that you generated.

    Interactively, your reports can be viewed from the OUTPUT window.

    In batch, they go to the standard SAS output file, with a ddname of SASLIST.
