You can display the menu items on the main menu as icons, blocks, or line entries. The default is icons.

If you prefer blocks as your default, follow this path from the main menu:

Options -> User Interface Options -> change Use Icons to No -> OK

If you prefer line entries as your default, follow this path from the main menu:

Options -> User Interface Options -> change Menu Style to Vertical -> OK
