System Requirements
SAS® Visual Analytics 6.4 (Distributed Mode)

Overview

If the SAS Visual Analytics server tier and middle tier are deployed on separate machines, these machines must use operating systems in the same operating system family (for example, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, x86, 64-bit and SUSE Linux Enterprise System 11 SP1, x86, 64-bit are in the same family).

The SAS Metadata Server and the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform can be located on machines that use a different operating system family.

SAS Visual Analytics Server on Linux for x64

SAS Visual Analytics Server includes one of the following SAS/ACCESS engines:

  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to Greenplum
  • SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata
  • standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice if using Hadoop

SAS Information Retrieval Studio 1.5 requires Python 2.6 to 2.x for deployment. The generic version of Python is appropriate.

If ArcGIS for Server is used as your map service, SAS Visual Analytics requires release 10.1 or later.

SAS LASR Analytic Server on Linux for x64

SAS High-Performance Deployment for Hadoop 2.4 is provided for co-located data storage. SAS Visual Analytics 6.4 also supports the following options, with procurement and installation by the customer:

SAS Metadata Server

Please select a target environment:
SAS recommends that you deploy SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher) is recommended. A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most large deployments. 4GB of RAM is sufficient for many deployments and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
