System Requirements
SAS® Visual Analytics 7.1 (Non-distributed Mode)

Overview

The SAS Metadata Server and the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform can be located on machines that use a different operating system family.

Note: If you deploy the middle tier and the server tier on dissimilar operating systems (for example, one on Linux and the other on Windows), the audit and relationship data extraction and reporting is not supported.

Server Tier Requirements

SAS Visual Analytics Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS Visual Analytics Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice.

SAS Information Retrieval Studio 1.5 requires Python 2.6 to 2.x for deployment. 

For installation on UNIX platforms, the generic version of Python is appropriate. 

For installations on Windows, either of these versions is appropriate:

  • ActiveState Python - If you use ActiveState Python in a production or commercial environment, an additional license is required.
  • Generic version of Python - If you use the generic version of Python, you must also install the appropriate PYWIN32 module at Python for Windows extensions http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files. The module is required for a successful installation of your Visual Analytics software but it is not included in the generic version of Python.

If ArcGIS for Server is used as your map service, SAS Visual Analytics requires release 10.1 or later.

SAS Metadata Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS recommends that you deploy SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher is recommended). A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4GB of RAM is sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.

In addition, SAS Visual Analytics 7.1 requires Adobe Flash Player 11.1 or newer.


Hardware Requirements

SAS Visual Analytics requires a minimum of 4-core commodity hardware with Intel-Xeon architecture with 16 GB of RAM per core.
