System Requirements
SAS® Visual Analytics 6.4 (Non-distributed Mode)

Overview

If the SAS Visual Analytics server tier and middle tier are deployed on separate machines, these machines must use operating systems in the same operating system family (for example, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, x86, 64-bit and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1, x86, 64-bit are in the same family).

The SAS Metadata Server and the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform can be located on machines that use a different operating system family.

Server Tier Requirements

SAS Visual Analytics Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS Visual Analytics Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice.

SAS Information Retrieval Studio 1.5 requires Python 2.6 to 2.x for deployment. 

For installation on UNIX platforms, the generic version of Python is appropriate. 

For installations on Windows, either of these versions is appropriate:

  • ActiveState Python - If you use ActiveState Python in a production or commercial environment, an additional license is required.
  • Generic version of Python - If you use the generic version of Python, you must also install the appropriate PYWIN32 module at Python for Windows extensions http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/. The module is required for a successful installation of your Visual Analytics software, but it is not included in the generic version of Python.

If ArcGIS for Server is used as your map service, SAS Visual Analytics requires release 10.1 or higher.

SAS Metadata Server

Please select a target environment:

SAS recommends deploying SAS Metadata Server on a 64-bit host system. The SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded, and multi-core server hardware (typically quad core or higher) is therefore recommended. A dedicated machine for the SAS Metadata Server is recommended to simplify tuning, management, and diagnostics, but is not required. The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
