SAS Enterprise Model Management is available for both distributed and non-distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server deployments. These system requirements apply to both LASR deployments. The headings below indicate whether components apply to a specific LASR deployment.
Important: All Windows 2008-based servers that work with SAS Enterprise Model Management must have Service Pack 1 or higher installed, or the SAS Deployment Wizard fails.
There is no upgrade path from SAS® Model Manager to SAS Enterprise Model Management. To upgrade SAS Model Manager, add SAS Enterprise Miner to your deployment.
Base SAS is required for SAS Enterprise Model Management, but it is separately licensed. SAS/STAT, SAS/IML, and SAS Enterprise Miner are recommended for SAS Enterprise Model Management, but are also separately licensed.
SAS/IML is recommended for SAS Enterprise Model Management but is not included.
SAS Model Manager In-Database Scoring Scripts 14.1 is an optional product. It can be installed on another tier.
A standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (Oracle or PostgreSQL) is included.
An additional SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (for DB2, Greenplum, Hadoop, Netezza, Oracle, SAP HANA, or Teradata) is recommended but not included.
Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes a Standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice for transactional data. It must match the engine that was selected for the SAS Enterprise Model Manager server, or it must be separately licensed.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
For most deployments, 32 GB of RAM should be considered a minimum for the middle tier.
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
Note: As an alternative, Java Web Start can be used to access the SAS Enterprise Miner application. In order to launch SAS Enterprise Miner via the Java Web Start client, Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.7 or later must be installed on the client machine.
SAS Visual Analytics Mobile Clients (SAS Mobile BI) is available for the Apple iPad and Android tablets via free downloads from app stores.
