To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions and subsequent minor updates for each officially supported operating system. For example, if the baseline for SAS x is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4, SAS x will also support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.7 under this policy. The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/baseline_plus.html.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.
SAS Financial Management ships with SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting, which must be installed with SAS Financial Management; it cannot be installed at a later time.
SAS Financial Management Server includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice and three SAS Metadata Bridges of choice (plus General Industry Standards, which is included automatically).
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server (Non-distributed LASR) includes SAS LASR Analytic Server (Non-distributed LASR), and a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice.
SAS recommends installing SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine.
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS Financial Management contains a SAS data server (SAS Financial Management Data Server), which requires additional configuration.
The size of the data server is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" in the guide SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability, Second Edition. at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/intellplatform/tabs/admin94.html
When you install your SAS solution software, SAS Deployment Manager installs and configures the required web application servers and web servers.
To install these servers, select one of the supported operating systems for the middle tier.
Note: These servers cannot be installed on the z/OS or 32-bit Windows platforms.
Note: SAS Financial Management Add-in for Microsoft Excel is a 32-bit Windows application. When it is run on top of an emulation of a Windows 32-bit operating system, it is supported on Microsoft Windows for x64.
The SAS Visual Analytics Apps are supported on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Each app is written specifically for its operating system and provides native support for these devices so that you can view reports on your mobile device. You can download the apps for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
SAS recommends using the SAS Visual Analytics Apps for iOS or Android to view and interact with reports on mobile devices.
The SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office supports Microsoft Office desktop clients that are deployed from Microsoft Office 365 or on-premises deployment systems. Microsoft Office web applications that are browser-based are not supported.
In this release, SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office requires the following software:
Note: With SAS Financial Management 5.61 and later, Microsoft Office 2019 is also supported.
SAS Financial Management 5.6 deploys SAS Common Components 9.0 for HTML, which has a separate set of supported web browsers. For a list of supported browsers and platforms associated with HTML5, refer to the system requirements for SAS Common Components 9.0 for HTML.
For more accurate hardware sizing (including migrations from prior releases) SAS recommends that all new sites, as well as those changing the scope or functional use of this solution, make use of SAS's sizing expertise. Contact your SAS account representative to request an official hardware sizing. If you need assistance in determining your SAS account representative, send an email to contactcenter@sas.com.
Failure to establish the SAS environment with the minimum specifications outlined by SAS World-Wide Sizing, as well as provide adequate storage and I/O, might result in undesirable end-user experiences and might also inhibit the ability of SAS to address performance concerns.
