This document lists the requirements for SAS Master Data Management Advanced (MDM Advanced) 4.3.
To keep pace with changes to third-party technologies, SAS has adopted a general policy of supporting one or more baseline major versions, subsequent minor updates, and subsequent major versions for each officially supported operating system. Only the supported baseline major versions are listed in this document. The full SAS Support policy governing third-party software can be found at https://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/baseline_plus.html.
As part of this policy, SAS strongly encourages customers to install the latest operating-system service packs.
SAS MDM Advanced Server includes a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice. It also includes a locale of choice for either the SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information or the SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data. If nothing is selected, the English (USA) locale for the SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information is included by default.
SAS Data Management Server Remote Function Call for SAP is included on request. It includes SAS Federation Server Driver for SAP.
SAS MDM Advanced Server and SAS Data Quality Server must be installed on the same machine.
SAS MDM Advanced Server supports only DataFlux Data Management Platform 2.7.
SAS MDM Advanced Server supports only SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information version 25 (or later) or SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data version 5 (or later).
SAS MDM Advanced Server supports only Oracle 11g or 12c and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or 2014. The database must be created and a user must be defined before you start the deployment.
On Windows, OpenSSL 1.0 or later is required. The OpenSSL DLLs must be installed in the Windows system directory or in a directory that is in the system PATH.
In UNIX environments, the vendor-provided OpenSSL library associated with your host must be installed:
SAS Data Quality Server includes a locale of choice for either SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information or SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data. If nothing is selected, the English (USA) locale of the Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information is included by default.
SAS Data Quality Server supports only SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Contact Information version 25 (or later) or SAS Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data version 5 (or later).
SAS Business Rules Manager Server is included but is optional. It includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (Oracle is recommended).
SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes SAS/ACCESS Interface to PostgreSQL and a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (for ODBC or Oracle).
SAS recommends that you install SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server on a separate machine from the solution software.
Inclusion of SAS Visual Analytics LASR Server
For Hadoop Support
Base SAS, SAS/ACCESS engines, and SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server can be installed on the head node of the commodity hardware (symmetric) or on separate hardware (asymmetric). The Distributed LASR Base SAS components for SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting can therefore be installed on Windows for x64 while working with the Linux for x64 LASR grid.
Use of a co-located Hadoop File System (HDFS) is optional, but it requires a supported Hadoop environment and SAS Plug-ins for Hadoop (which are included with your license). The plug-ins require additional configuration. SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS MDM Advanced contains the following SAS data servers that require additional configuration:
The size of each of these data servers is medium.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section titled Initial Configuration Recommendations in the "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" section of SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability.
Note: For SAS Web Studio, Java 6 or 7 must be installed on the host before you begin the SAS deployment process. SAS Web Studio does not support Java 8.
