SAS Fair Banking

Before You Upgrade: Create Backup Files

You should back up metadata, SAS data sets, and stored processes before you install the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 and SAS Fair Banking 4.1.

Post-Configuration Steps for SAS Fair Banking

When Post-Configuration Steps Are Recommended

Use the following table to determine what (if any) post-configuration steps you need to complete. To determine the product release number for Base SAS, see the deployment registry report that you generated before you applied the third maintenance release. For more information, see Determining the Product Release Numbers for Products at Your Site.
When Post-Configuration Steps Are Recommended
Update Scenario
Are Post-Configuration Steps Recommended?
You are applying the third maintenance release, and the product release number for Base SAS 9.21_M1.
No
The 9.21_M1 product release number indicates that you previously applied the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2 at your site. When you applied the second maintenance release, you completed the required post-configuration steps. Therefore, you do not need to complete these steps again.
You are applying the third maintenance release to an existing SAS 9.2 deployment, and the product release number for Base SAS is 9.2.
Yes
The 9.2 product release number indicates that you have not applied the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2. Maintenance releases are cumulative. Therefore, when you apply the third maintenance release, you will also receive the changes that were part of the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2.
For the recommended post-configuration steps, see Administrative Updates to OLAP Cubes.

Administrative Updates to OLAP Cubes

Because of enhancements to OLAP security, you need to perform administrative updates of the cubes in your SAS Fair Banking solution, and you need to update an associated library that is defined and registered by the solution. Without these updates, your cubes will be locked, and you will be unable to refresh their contents. After the administrative updates, your SAS log will contain a message that the cubes were updated.
To perform these updates:
  1. Log on to SAS Management Console using the SAS Fair Banking administrator account.
  2. Select the Folders tab.
  3. Navigate to folder SAS Fair Banking/Data Source and then to the folder that contains the registered library L_RPTS. For example, if library L_RPTS is located in the folder Reporting, navigate to the folder SAS Fair Banking/Data Source/Reporting. Delete L_RPTS.
  4. Log on to the SAS server using the SAS Fair Banking administrator account.
  5. Restart all SAS services.
  6. Run the following code in the SAS Fair Banking SAS environment. (See “Configuring the SAS Environment to Run SAS Fair Banking Programs” in SAS Fair Banking 4.1: Administrator's Guide for information about the SAS Fair Banking SAS environment.)
