Edit the Contents of a WebDAV Graph Portlet

You can edit the contents of a WebDAV Graph portlet that you created. If you are designated as a group content administrator, you can also edit the contents of WebDAV graph portlets that have been shared with the respective group.
To edit the contents of a WebDAV Graph portlet, follow these steps:
  1. Navigate to the page where the WebDAV graph portlet is displayed.
  2. In the portlet's title bar, click the Edit Contents icon Edit icon is a square with a pencil at the diagonal .
  3. On the Edit Portlet page, specify the Data file path. This is the path to the file that contains the source data (data.xml) for the graph.
Use the Location list box to navigate to the data file's path. Use the same procedure that you would use in a navigator portlet. See Using Navigator Portlets.
Note: Generally, data files for graphs are prepared and placed in the WebDAV repository by a content administrator. The data file must be in the appropriate XML format and must have the name data.xml. If you do not know where your data file is located, you can use the portal's search feature to search for the file. Search for an item with a content type of File and the name data.xml. The Location column in the search results displays the WebDAV path for the file.
When you locate the path and click on it, an information box appears at the top of the page and displays the fully qualified path to the file.
  4. To specify the graph, enter the following information on the Edit Portlet Content page:
    Graph title
Type a title for the graph. The title is displayed in the top center of the portlet.
    Graph description
Type a short description for the chart or graph. The description appears in the portlet below the chart or graph.
    Category variable
Select the variable that represents the categories in which the data is to be displayed. On a bar chart or line graph, the category variable is displayed on the horizontal axis. On a pie chart, each slice represents a different category.
    Response variable
Select the variable that is to be used as the response variable. On a bar chart or line graph, the response variable is displayed on the vertical axis. On a pie chart, the response variable determines the size of each slice.
    Subcategory variable
If you want to the graph to display data at a greater level of detail, select a second category variable. For example, if the category variable is Region, you could specify Country as the subcategory variable.
    Response statistic
(Optional) You can specify a statistic that is to be calculated based on the response variable.
If do not specify a response statistic, and if one or more categories has multiple members, Sum is used as the default response statistic.
You should specify a response statistic if one or more categories has multiple members, and if the default response statistic (Sum) is not meaningful. For example, if the response variable is Age, you could specify Mean as the response statistic in order to obtain meaningful data.
    Graph type
Select the type of graph or chart you would like to generate: Bar, Pie, or Line.
    Graph size
Select the size (Small, Medium, or Large) of the graph or chart you want to generate. Use the following guidelines to select the size:
    • Select Small if you are using a three-column page format.
    • Select Medium if you are using a two-column page format, or if you are using a three-column grid layout and the portlet spans two columns.
    • Select Large if you are using a one-column page format, or if you are using a multiple-column grid format and the portlet spans an entire row.
Note: For more information about page layouts, see Understanding Page Layouts.
    Detail link
If you want the portlet to display a link to additional detailed information, enter a URL that specifies the proprietary SAS Business Intelligence Platform (SBIP) protocol. This protocol enables you to link to content that is located in the WebDAV repository, or to content that is defined in SAS metadata.
To create the URL for the detail link, follow these steps:
    1. Use the search tool to find the content item to which you want to link.
    2. Copy the item's path information from the Location column in the search results.
    3. After the path, enter a slash (/) followed by the content item's name (from the Name column in the search results).
Note: For WebDAV content, you do not need to perform this step. The Location path for WebDAV content contains the name of the file as well, so it's not necessary to enter /ItemName.
    4. Precede the path with the repository name followed by a slash. For WebDAV content, the path begins with the name of the WebDAV repository. The default repository name is WebDAV. For content that is defined in SAS metadata, the path begins with METASERVER.
    5. (Optional) Place the following characters in front of the path:
      sbip://
Here are some examples of SBIP URLs for various types of content items:
    • sbip://METASERVER/Products/SAS Intelligence Platform/Samples/Sample: European Demographic Data
    • METASERVER/Users/sasdemo/My Folder/Sales Map
    • METASERVER/Users/sasdemo/My Folder/Midwest Sales Report.srx
    • sbip://METASERVER/System/Publishing/Channels/North America Sales Region
    • WebDAV/Users/sasdemo/2008SalesAsia.html
  5. When you are finished editing the portlet contents, click OK on the Edit Portlet page.
The portal page appears with the newly edited portlet. If you entered a link to detailed information, the link appears at the top of the portlet.
