Viewing Detailed Data (OLAP Data Only)

Overview of Viewing Detailed Data

Some OLAP cubes enable you to view the underlying data for a table viewer. For these cubes, the values in each cell of the Table viewer or Color-Mapped Table viewer are displayed as links. Click any value to open the Detail Data dialog box.

Select Whether the Column Names or Column Labels Are Displayed

You can specify whether the column headings use the column names or column labels in the Detail Data dialog box. From the Column headers drop-down list, select Show column labels to display the column labels, or select Show column names to display the column names.

Scroll through Columns and Rows

If a subset of the columns or rows in the detailed data table can fit on the screen at one time, then the lower-left or upper-right corner of the table will contain a navigation bar like this:

The navigation bar contains the following information:
  • the rows and columns that you are currently viewing
  • the total number of rows or columns
The following buttons are available for navigating columns:
left navigation button
scroll to the previous group of columns
leftmost navigation button
jump to the first column
right navigation button
scroll to the next group of columns
rightmost navigation button
jump to the last column
The following buttons are available for navigating rows:
up navigation button
scroll to the previous group of rows
topmost navigation button
jump to the first row
down navigation button
scroll to the next group of rows
bottommost navigation button
jump to the last row

Export Your Detailed Data

You can use the Export or Save As dialog box to export your detailed data to a separate file.
  1. Click export button in the Detail Data dialog box to open the Export or Save As dialog box.
  2. Select the rows that you want to include:
    All rows
    selects all of the rows from the detail table.
    Rows
    selects specific rows from the detail table. Specify the first row that you want to include in the From field, and then specify the last row that you want to include in the To field.
    For example, to select the first five rows, specify 1 in the From field and 5 in the To field.
  3. Select the columns that you want to include:
    All columns
    selects all of the columns in the data table.
    All currently displayed columns
    selects all of the columns that are currently displayed in the Detail Data dialog box.
    Selected columns
    selects specific columns. Select the check box for each column that you want to include.
  4. Select the file format that you want to use for your output data:
    Microsoft Excel worksheet (.xls)
    select Export to, and then select Excel.
    Microsoft Word document (.doc)
    select Export to, and then select Word.
    Tab-separated values file (.tsv)
    select Save as, and then select Tab separated values (.tsv) file.
    Comma-separated values file (.csv)
    select Save as, and then select Comma separated values (.csv) file.
  5. Click OK to export the file.
