A stored process is a SAS program that is stored in a central location,
and which you can execute from the portal. The results of a stored
process include the most current available data. When you execute
a stored process from the portal, the portal might display an input
form so that you can customize the report contents.
Some stored
processes display streamed output that is displayed directly in the
portal. Other stored processes produce results packages that contain
output which you can view. If a stored process produces a results
package, then a message appears in your Stored Process Alerts portlet
when the stored process is finished executing. You can then click
the alert message to see the results.
To run
a stored process from the portal:
-
Navigate
to a collection portlet or a navigator portlet that contains a stored
process. Stored processes are identified by the
icon.
Note: If your portal
does not list the stored process that you want, then you can use the
search tool to find it.
-
Click
the name of the stored process.
-
If an
input form is displayed, then make entries in the fields to specify
the information that you want.
-
Click
the appropriate button to execute the stored process.
-
Depending
on how the stored process was defined, the results are displayed as
follows:
-
If the stored process was set up
to stream results directly to the portal, then the results immediately
appear in the viewer.
-
If the stored process was set up
to send its results to a permanent or transient package, then the
result package appears in the package viewer. A message also appears
in your Stored Process Alerts portlet to indicate that the stored
process is finished executing. You can click on the alert message
to display the package viewer.
The package viewer
displays a list of the package contents in the left frame and information
about the package in the right frame. To view one of the items in
the package, click its name in the left frame.
The item appears in
the viewer.
-
From the
viewer, you can take the following actions:
-
To create a bookmark for the stored
process and put it in your Bookmarks portlet, click
Bookmark in the toolbar.
For more information, see About Bookmarks.
-
-
To publish the stored process to
a publication channel or a WebDAV repository, click
Publish in the viewer toolbar. For more information,
see Publish Content.
-
To return to the search results,
click
Search in the banner. To return to
the portal page that was displayed most recently, click
Portal Page in the banner. (For best results, always
use these banner links instead of the browser's
Back button.)
