SAS® OnDemand for Academics

Summer 2013 Upgrade Information

Progress Update: The July 27-28 upgrade is complete.

The SAS® OnDemand for Academics servers will be upgraded from SAS 9.3M1 to SAS 9.3M2 in July. Additionally, new versions of SAS® Enterprise Guide®, SAS® Enterprise MinerTM, and SAS® Forecast Server software will become available.

SAS OnDemand for Academics will not be available for use during part or all of the upgrade dates. Please review the following information to prepare for this upgrade.

Note: This page will be updated with the most current information as it becomes available.

SAS Enterprise Guide Users

SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 will become available in summer, 2013. The current version (Version 4.3) will continue to operate. However, all new users will receive SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 by default. If you have Version 4.3, you can upgrade to Version 6.1. For more details, see: Accessing SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1.

Note: SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 does not support Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, or any 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating system. Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium and above (64-bit), and Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) are the only supported operating systems.

Additionally, there can only be one version of SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 on a machine at any given time. For example, if a machine already has traditional SAS Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 installed on it, then you must install SAS OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide Version 6.1 on a different machine.

SAS Enterprise Guide will not be able to connect to and use the hosted servers during the upgrade dates.

SAS Enterprise Miner Users

During the upgrade dates listed above, SAS Enterprise Miner Version 12.1 will become available. The current version (Version 7.1) will no longer be available. There is nothing that you need to do to prepare. You will automatically receive Version 12.1 and any projects that you have created with Version 7.1 will be available for use in Version 12.1.

SAS Enterprise Miner will not be usable during the upgrade date(s).

Note: If you experience problems starting the application, consider clearing your Java cache.

SAS Forecast Server Users

During the upgrade dates listed above, SAS Forecast Server Version 12.1 will become available. The current version (Version 4.1) will no longer be available. There is nothing that you need to do to prepare. You will automatically receive Version 12.1. You must recreate any projects that you have created in Version 4.1 should you continue to want to work with them. We are unable to migrate existing projects to Version 12.1.

SAS Forecast Server will not be usable during the upgrade date(s).

Note: If you experience problems starting the application, consider clearing your Java cache.

SAS Web Editor Users
