This document lists the requirements for SAS Master Data Management Advanced (MDM Advanced) Version 4.2.
SAS MDM Advanced is available for multiple platforms, as noted below.
The default stack size of 256k is not sufficient. Increase the stack size by running export PTHREAD_DEFAULT_STACK_SIZE=1048576.
Minimum of OpenSSL 1.0 is required.
SAS MDM Advanced Server supports only SAS DataFlux Data Management Platform 2.6.
SAS MDM Advanced Server includes a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice. It includes either a Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice or a Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data in the language of choice (version 5 is required). In addition, SAS MDM Advanced Server only supports Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) Contact Information version 25 (or later).
SAS MDM Advanced Server also includes the following products:
The system requirements documentation for each of these products is available on the SAS Install Center at http://support.sas.com/documentation/installcenter/.
SAS MDM Advanced Server supports only Oracle 11g or 12c and Microsoft SQL Server 2012. The database must be created and a user must be defined before you start the deployment.
SAS Business Rules Manager Server is included but optional. It also includes a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (Oracle is recommended).
SAS Data Quality Server includes either a Quality Knowledge Base for Product Data in the language of choice (version 5 is required) or a Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice. If not specified, by default, Quality Knowledge Base Locale for English (USA) is included. SAS Data Quality Server only supports Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) Contact Information version 25 (or later).
With SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting release 7.1 and higher, Teradata and EMC Greenplum, like all other data storage providers, must use the SAS Embedded Process to achieve parallel loading.
In previous releases, LASR used memory mapping of data between in-memory storage and on-disk storage, which allowed for faster data loads into memory – a special case of parallel loading for Teradata and Greenplum only. This memory mapping was provided by features in SAS High-Performance Analytics that were utilized by LASR. These specific memory mapping models are no longer supported for Teradata and Greenplum.
Apache Hadoop software is distributed with SAS software as a convenience. For support information, see http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/ApacheHadoopSupport.html.
The SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Server includes SAS/ACCESS Interface to PostgreSQL and a standard SAS/ACCESS engine of choice (for ODBC or Oracle).
SAS MDM Advanced contains the following SAS data servers that require additional configuration:
The size of each of these data servers is medium.
Note: When you configure your software, the size of each data server must be considered.
Before you install, update, or add products and solutions that result in the deployment of one or more SAS data servers to the same machine, kernel parameter changes for shared memory and semaphores are required. For details about configuration of small, medium, and large data servers, see the section "Tuning the PostgreSQL Data Server" in the guide SAS 9.4 Web Applications: Tuning for Performance and Scalability, Second Edition. at http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/intellplatform/tabs/admin94.html
SAS makes the following recommendations for SAS Metadata Server deployments:
The disk I/O performance of any server-class system should be sufficient. Memory requirements are highly dependent on the product mix and usage, but 8 GB of RAM are sufficient for most large deployments. For many deployments, 4 GB of RAM are sufficient and should be considered a minimum, unless the specific deployment is tested and verified to require less memory.
SAS MDM Advanced Mid-Tier only supports Oracle 11g or 12c and Microsoft SQL Server 2012. The database must be created and a user must be defined before you start the deployment.
We recommend installing the SAS Visual Analytics Administration and Reporting Mid-Tier Server on a separate computer.
SAS MDM Advanced Administrator includes a a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice. It also includes a choice of either a SAS Data Management Quality Knowledge Base Locale of choice or a Knowledge Base for Product Data in the language of choice (version 5 is required).
The Knowledge Base must be the same as the one that was selected for the SAS Data Quality Server.
If not specified, by default, Quality Knowledge Base Locale for English (USA) will be included. The locale must be the same as the one that was selected for the SAS Data Quality Server. SAS MDM Advanced Administrator only supports Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) Contact Information version 25 (or later).
SAS MDM Advanced Studio includes a a SAS Data Management Contextual Extraction Language Pack of choice.
SAS MDM Advanced Studio only supports Quality Knowledge Base (QKB) Contact Information version 25 (or later).
SAS Visual Analytics Mobile Clients (SAS Mobile BI) are available for the Apple iPad and Android tablets via free downloads from app stores.
