If no
SAP metadata has been previously extracted, use the SAP R/3 Register
Tables wizard to extract SAP R/3 metadata to SAS data sets similar
to the way the Extract from R/3 wizard in SAS Management Console works.
Pre-extracting
the metadata and then viewing it in the SAP R/3 Register Tables wizard
improves performance when browsing the SAP R/3 metadata. If you have
pre-extracted the metadata, you can also perform text-based searches
on the tables for which you extracted metadata.
Follow
these steps to extract SAP R/3 metadata into SAS data sets using the
SAP R/3 Register Tables wizard:
-
Select
StartProgramsSASSAS Data Integration Studio to start SAS Data Integration Studio.
-
Select
FileRegister Tables to start the Register Tables wizard. The

and click

From the

that enables you to connect to your SAP R/3 System and click

A
Metadata Not Found warning dialog box displays.
Tip
If you do not
see this warning dialog box, then this procedure will not work because
the SAP metadata library location has information from a previous
extraction.
-
Click
Yes on the warning dialog box to continue.
The
Source Type Selection page displays.
-
Select
Tables and click
Next.
The
Subset Tables page displays.
-

the types of metadata that you want to extract from your SAP R/3 System.

You can also click

extraction options, such as whether to extract structures, maintenance
views, and help views.

Click

Metadata Extract Selection dialog box, where you can view all metadata selections and extract
options that you have specified, and click
OK to return to the Metadata Extraction Parameters page. Click

the metadata to SAS data sets in the specified metadata location.
